      HUNTSPAC

HUNTSPAC is the packet radio special interest group of HARC. The group maintains an extensive packet radio network including a local packet BBS with email connectivity to the nationwide packet network and, via a PACSAT link, to packet radio operators worldwide. Additionally a local APRS network is in operation on 144.39 MHz and is tied into an internet gateway allowing local packets to be sent all over the world.

The network represents a large investment in installed hardware. To fund maintenance of this equipment and to cover expansion and upgrading, Users of the network are requested to pay an assessment of $15.00 per year. This can be paid to the HARC Treasurer at the club's address.

For More information about HUNTSPAC or APRS please contact Tim Cunningham, N8DEU at n8deu@amsat.org

      TVATV

TVATV is a special interest group of HARC. Members are interested in transmission and reception of video signals capable of being recorded on a standard VCR and/or displayed on a standard TV set. Some of the projects TVATV members have been involved with are: Linking Huntsville School System classrooms across town to allow students to interact and share projects and instruction. Installing a link to a weather radar system allowing the radar image to be displayed by the group's video repeater station on receipt of remote control commands. Transmitting video from the lead truck for the Rocket City Marathon and the Cotton Row Run to allow race organizers to keep track of the lead runners' progress. Installing a "Tower Cam" - a video camera located atop the video repeater's tower on Monte Sano with a remote control system allowing actuation of the camera and pan/tilt control.

TVATV operates an amateur TV repeater with input on 439.25 MHz and output on 421.25 MHz. A voice coordination repeater is operated on 145.33 MHz with input 600 kHz down. A net session for TVATV participants is held each Tuesday night at 8:00 PM with concurrent operation on the voice and ATV repeaters.

If you have a cable-ready TV set, are in line-of-sight of the southern end of Monte Sano, and have an outdoor antenna, you can view the images transmitted from the ATV repeater by connecting the antenna to the cable input and tuning the receiver to cable channel 57.

Anyone interested in ATV is encouraged to check into the net or to contact Gary Dion, N4TXI,  tvatv@qsl.net, for information about ATV or membership in TVATV.

Further details about TVATV can be found at http://hiwaay.net/~bbrown/tvatv.htm

Members of TVATV and regular users of its facilities are requested to pay an assessment of $15.00 per year to help cover maintenance and enhancement of the system. Payment can be made to the HARC Treasurer at the club's address.
